Bring it 2009!
Hey guys, happy new year! Hope you all had a safe and blessed NYE last night. We had tons of fun with some friends last night. One of the awesomest times of last night was starting the new year off with God in the center. We had time of prayer and sang a few songs to just give God the praise for a great year past and one to come. As a follower of Jesus I KNOW how important it is to put God first in everything, but this is easier said than done. As that familiar saying goes, "Actions speak louder than words". I never make new years resolutions, but I DO choose one bible verse that is my theme for the year. This year I have chosen Philippians 3:13-14:
No, dear brothers and sisters, I am still not all I should be, but I am focusing all my energies on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I strain to reach the end of the race and receive the prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us up to heaven.
To me, this verse is about focusing forward, not looking back at what is already done. It's so easy to turn back and get upset with our failures. But the Lord wants me to go full speed ahead and continue to run this race that He has called me to run. I hope to keep this in mind throughout the year as I serve God and let Him do His work in me. I'm far from perfect, but I know that Jesus has made me complete through His death on the cross. He will carry me through this year as I continue to draw strength from Him.
Happy New year and may 2009 bring you many moments of learning and growing! God bless!

Yes it's been a while!
I have no idea who reads this anymore, but I think I would like to get back into xanga-ing again. I've realized that my own personal journaling has decreased since I joined the working world and married life. I've realized how significant journaling has been for me. It releases my thoughts out onto a page in ways that really forced me to process what is going on in my heart and mind. I like that. So, my hope is to carve out more time to write to God in my journal. If I can, I'll try sharing some insight that God reveals to me. There is always something that He wants to teach us.
In other news, Drew and I are doing great! We can't believe that this year is already ending! We were reminiscing the other night about how much has gone on in 2008. Drew got let go at Valley Oak, was jobless for 2 months, got hired at Lashgroup, then got hired at our church fulltime in August. Crazy go nuts! I had a fun year with my students, started another school year with a very energetic class, went through financial peace university, rekindled my love for hula, and am now training for the Merrie Monarch. Whoa mama! It's so amazing how time can pass you by so quickly. One of the biggest lessons I've learned this year is that God wants me to slow down and be still with Him. It's so hard to do this with the way our culture operates. Go go go! Do do do! I hear His voice in my ear saying, "Be still and know that I am God". That's my prayer man. It's about time I slowed down and reminded myself of who's in charge. It's all You, God!
My Dad, Aunty Sybil (My first hula teacher), and I.
Zoe loves to fetch her ball in da water
Merry Christmas everyone! :) Jesus is the reason!

pinch me...
A dream I've had since age 10 is turning into a reality. I still feel knots in my stomach thinking about it. I've always had a love and passion for hula as all my friends and family know. Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that I could be remotely close to accomplishing this. Am I dreaming? Pinch me now!

new beginnings
I always love the beginning of a school year. There's an excitement around the school. Teachers are busy getting things in place. There is always TONS for me to do! So far my new class is AWESOME! I love all 32 of them! That's right thirty-two! If I didn't have two aides I would go bananas!
Thanks God for a fresh new start and a great school year to look forward to. No matter what challenges and joys may come my way I ask that you help me be the teacher I need to be for these little ones. Help me to balance my life well, always keeping you in the center as my strong foundation. Let the challenges I may face be a growing experience for me. No matter what is to come Lord, I thank you for all you're going to do! Amen :)
I still have more summer pics...meh...maybe another time. it takes too long to upload man! Sleep is more important. Sorry guys.
